Xavier Poynton, a young and passionate ski racer based in North Wales, started skiing aged 4 joining North Wales Snowsports Club, and then quickly gaining a place on their race team: the North Wales Flyers.
Just two years later, age 6, Xavier was starting to pick up his first national titles: starting with Welsh School’s champion, and has since added to the collection British Schoolboys Indoor Champion, Welsh and English Outdoor Champion, as well as Welsh Alpine Slalom and Giant Slalom Champion.
With his ambitions to race on both the World Cup Circuit and at the 2030 Olympics, Xavier secured a place as the youngest ever athlete to be selected for the Ambition Race Team in 2007, and now spends his time juggling school work and training with the Ambition team at their base in Leogang, Austria.
Xavier lives for all things snow and adventure and is an ambassador for Zip World. Progress, however has not always been smooth. With his first broken limb aged four, and then once again being taken out of action since Feb 2020, and having to undergo intensive rehab following a fractured femur in training, before finally getting back out to Austria October 2020. Xavier considers himself incredibly lucky to be part of such an amazing worldwide snow community who have been so supportive during his recovery.
