Protect Our Winters (POW)

POW UK inspires and equips UK based outdoor communities to take positive action to address the climate crisis and to accelerate the transition to a carbon neutral society.

Launched in 2017, Protect Our Winters UK (POW UK) is a charity which brings the powerful and significant voice of the outdoor community to the table on climate change. The outdoor industry in the UK is economically significant and has millions of enthusiasts participating – our vision is to inspire and equip this community to take positive action on climate change.

By uniting and organising this massive and influential community (outdoor enthusiasts, professional athletes and passionate companies) to advocate for policy solutions to climate change, we will accelerate the transition to a low carbon society.

POW UK is part of a global network of POW chapters: POW was founded in 2007 in the US by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, and there are now national chapters in more than 10 countries.

Climate change continues to affect and alter both our natural and built environments. We no longer have time on our side, we are in a no-fall zone.
If we continue along the path our governments and leaders are currently walking, less snowfall will be the least of our worries; our communities, businesses and natural world are at stake.

As the science screams loud and clear, our leaders wilfully ignore it. As the people demand action on climate change, our governments perpetuate unsustainable technologies and dirty fossil fuels.

At Protect Our Winters UK, we champion the future. We work to influence our politicians, regulators and business leaders to usher in a greener, fairer, Net Zero future.
